Pellet stove posted on July 03, 2009 08:57:14 pm Saw this today in a home in Yardley, PA. Breckwell pellet stove. I looked at their install instructions and it does not come close to a properly vented appliance, however the town approved it and the approval sticker is right on the electrical panel.
Metal Like Asbestos Chimney posted on July 03, 2009 05:59:13 pm This is the second time I have run into this type of furnace chimney. The previous time was about 10 years ago in upstate New York.
It appears to be asbestos. When I look at the pipe from the end, I see layers of material. When I tap it it rings almost like cast iron pipe. It has the visible connector here and another in the attic. I cannot determine how they are connected; not with screws though. The rest of the chimney is behind the interior walls. On the roof it has a b-vent style metal boot, storm collar and rain cap. There are no labels or imprints on the pipe that I can see.
Has anybody got any experience with this material?
Gas Flex Line posted on July 02, 2009 02:28:56 pm I saw this installation to new retrofit gas fireplace. That is a CSST line. I searched old forums and still not sure if this is ok or needs to be in conduit. What about going thru brick?:D
Blue flamed gas fireplace ? posted on July 01, 2009 08:20:27 pm Of the several hundred gas artificial log fireplaces I have lit both natural and LP gas, I have never seen one like today, where the flame was 90% blue (like the flame on a gas range). I actually did not what to make of it. Nearly all I see are realistic looking yellow flames on the artificial logs. This one was blue. See the photos. Not sure what to make of it. The house was using natural gas.
