FPE and Zinsco Panels
posted on May 08, 2008 10:22:19 am
Hi guys, I read some of the threads about Zinsco and FPE panels and I am just looking for some general comments which some of you use or don't use. I would appreciate your comments so I can add some to my canned comments. I figured this would be easier than searching all the old threads and create some new discussion about these manufacturers. Breakers for air conditioner?
posted on May 08, 2008 12:07:48 am
Inspected house with two roof top Rheem Rheem AC/Heat Combo Model RRKA-A030JK08E (heat & AC) combo units. Unit 1 has a 35 AMP (240 VAC 120/120) tied or ganged breaker. Unit has two separate breakers that are not tied or ganged 15 Amp breaker on Leg 1 (120) and a second 15 Amp breaker on Leg 2 (120). I believe the Rheem spec for this model is 20 Amp minimum and 30 amp maximum for circuit protection. Besides being under the minimum (15 amp) size breakers should they be tied. Charles in Santa Fe

I found this yesterday in a millon-plus type custom home;though the builder did a great job I had one issue the wall sconces inside the tub enclosure. I did not thank they should have been there in the first place and was evan more surprised that that they were not even gfi'd.

OK, AMONG OTHER PROBLEMS, this garage subpanel is fed from a 60 amp breaker in the house. Pic 1 is the home and Pic 2 is the garage. How would you word the 100 amp main in the garage other than WRONG!

I have never seen one like this. Anyone know any background on this particular type. I am recommending an electrician look at it because i did not feel comfortable opening it. :o

Power to both buss bars

Just came back from an inspection that had a 60 amp 120v service. I know this jumper is not correct, but what is the proper way to energize both sides of the panel box with only 120v coming in? Thanks, Lee

All circuits 12/3 in panel

How would you comment on the fact that almost all of the circuits in the distribution panel are utilizing 12/3 on the 110 volt circuits? I'm finishing the report right now and would love to hear from you guys about this. Thanks! David

Okay, what did I not add in for the computation: ICC question: An 8kVA range has a branch circuit calculated ampere load. The minimum sizing for the branch circuit is: a) 26.7 b) 33.3 c) 34.8 d) 36.36 The answer is A. I get 8000/240 = 33.3 (B)..... Thanks! W
