Joseph, he is upset because his boss is insisting that he joins Iac2 and for his reasons, doesn't want to. It sound like he needs to go back to his boss and discuss this issue with him. For what ever reason, his boss thinks there is a benefit for John to join Iac2. Maybe his boss is not aware of the requirements, maybe he is. This does not sound like a "just get over it" type of situation.
There are things I do not want to put my time or money towards, but sometimes it's just required. Good luck John on either direction you go.
