Likewise, some kids can use the 36" high ones too.

Those same adults in your statement "Some adults. Not all." have a problem with 36" high kitchen cabinets too.

The 'standard' height is based on a 'standard' adult - i.e., one which more approximates the 'average', not the 'short people' nor the 'tall people'.

I used to have two brothers working for me when I was a contractor in Gainesville, Florida, one was 6'9" and the other was 6'10" tall - "every *standard* doorway" was a problem for them.

"Standard" anything was not for them.
