Trent,

?????

Built in 1900 has nothing to do with ABS pipe like that.

To make sure you are talking about the same thing I am asking about:

The white PVC tailpiece goes down to the trap, which curls up into the wall bend, which connects into the ABS fixture drain, which curls around toward the read entering into what looks like a wye fitting, toward (hidden from view) a fitting which turns back upward, then an ABS 45 sweep back behind the cabinet.

The part I am asking about is the wye ... what is almost facing the camera on the right? My guess is a clean out fitting.

Then, in the back wall of the cabinet, there is an ABS clean out.

Some how, it looks to me, that horizontal piece going off to the left must turn back to the right and ... wait, I understand now ...

That wye goes straight back into the back of the cabinet, with another wye (or some other fitting) turned up at a 45 degree angle, which comes from (instead of goes to) something else.

That would leave the piece facing the camera as a clean out.

Or so I think.

Of course, though, I'm guessing that the fitting past the wye is a sanitary tee (or, worse, a regular tee) and is turned up at a 45 degree angle - of course, though, a sanitary tee (much less a regular tee) is not allowed to be there for that change in direction.

Okay, so it's not the super duper loop-de-loop I first thought it was, but now I see more problems with it.
