Bad ABS, I recall mid 1970s. Polaris, Centaur and a brand that I cannot remember. Try a search on this board and maybe google.

Not sure about copper. I seem to remember some copper that split some years ago. I think Chinese. As I recall, it was not extruded, but flat stock rolled into a cylinder which split down the seam.
