My Mother passed away this morning. She had been pretty ill for a few years now. She is free of pain now.

We were at the Cremation place today making the arrangments and I asked about her pacemaker. Turns out they will explode if they are not removed from the body. There is actually a check box about them on one the 300 forms you have to fill out.

Here is the cool part. I was able to donate her pacemaker to the University of Tennessee Vet Hospital for use in animals. I had no idea this was possible, but when I found out, I felt a lot better.

I know she would be pleased that she was able to help an animal.

Jack - My condolences.

And thanks for the info about the pacemaker. I had no idea they could be of use in animals.

Jack,

Sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. Prayers to you and your family.

When my mother in law was cremated, we were told of the pacemaker too.

Anyway, I'll be thinking about you.

Rick

Sorry for your loss Jack. I was 14 when I lost my dad and 42 when I lost my mom. It certainly brings the awareness of our own mortality. My mom wanted to be cremated as well as well as my own wants.

Yes. I am sure your mom would be pleased about the pace maker.

You may think you have lost your mother now, but you'll soon realize she is with you the rest of your life in your thoughts and your heart.

God be with you and your family during these times.

Hi Jack,

I am sorry to hear about your loss. I for one feel that I have know your mother because of the post you have put up about her over the years. Her collection of thimbles, I sent her a thimble when you asked us to and received a nice thank you note.

You were a good son and your love of your mother will always be in your heart.

Thanks for letting us know about the pacemakers I have a defibrillator same thing. Big dog lover here so its good to know.

I have a small cabinet that has just a bunch of odd stuff in it. it was my dads. he would put junk, screws nuts odd parts to things in that cabinet. an from time to time i will be working in the garage on my Harley or around the house. Then i need something odd and so many times i found just what i was looking for in that small cabinet... Hes home in Heaven now but always know Hes looking down and handing me something out of the cabinet.
