From today.

Builder said he had no idea of the 24 in. clearance needed in front of the water heater and said the grill shouldn't be a problem since it wasn't combustible material.

He did not understand the clearance for service requirement. I come back around the house about an hour latter and he has a cable wrapped around the grill and says he's solved the problem.

Ignorance of the code is no excuse ... especially since he is a BUILDER who is required (at least in Florida) to meet minimum codes.

Jerry,

The problem we seem to have around here is these good ole boy homebuilders will construct a home just a mile beyond the city boundry where no AHJ show up for inspections. Seems anything goes with these guys.

Seems anything goes with these guys.

Rick,

"Almost" "anything" goes with those guys ... seems that common sense does not. :)

"he has a cable wrapped around the grill" to what purpose?

very interesting !!!

If "common sense" were common everybody would have some !:p

My guessis the cable is to prevent you from losing the grill when it or the water heater explodes
