Well, as long as you are doing it all wrong you might as well keep it ALL wrong ... such as using that not-allowed-foil-dryer-connector stuff. Just adds to the "all wrongness" of it. :D

I was surprised to not see the top of that water heater covered in lint.

Those things make me smile. One always needs a good laugh. It makes one wonder just how many people out there have absolutely no thought process. Also I wonder how many times they have to relight the water heater.

I guess they were thinking (absolutely not) that what a wonderful way to get rid of all that lint build up. We can just burn it off.

Ingenious.

It's a self cleaning dryer vent, as long as the water heater flue burns out the lint......:)

At least there is a strap around the tank for earth quakes

That must have been set up like that for a spoof or something. Can anyone be that incredibly brain dead.

I'm even suspicious of the setup that I posted, but this one with the dryer venting into the WH burner is so insane, I can't believe it's real.
Maybe the water heater didn't work and they ran the dryer to warm up the water a bit?

Hey John, just curious, where did you get that picture from?
That was from a newer house that I did in Chicago a couple of years ago. It's on my website. Go here; bottom left hand column
