Normally the Ontario Electrical Code lags the US code. Here's a change coming with our new revision effective May 4. Did we beat you this time?

"Rule 26-712(g) will require all receptacles in dwellings to be tamper-resistant and marked as such. Tamper-resistant receptacles are designed to protect children from injuries when they try to insert keys and other conductive objects into a receptacle".

John,

That requirement is in the 2008 NEC. ;)

John: Not to worry, the 2008 NEC has not been widely adopted.

Aaron,

While not widely adopted across the US, I am sure its adoption covers a greater area than "the Ontario Electrical Code" covers (presuming it only covers Ontario). ;)

JP: So then, you mean to imply that Florida has not yet adopted the OEC?
