Someone please help direct me to the code section refering to the requirements of the UV protection.

Any quick response from the 2006 IRC or 2006 IPC.

The pipe is required to be used in accordance with its approvals.

P2608.2 Installation of materials. All materials used shall be
installed in strict accordance with the standards under which
the materials are accepted and approved. In the absence of such
installation procedures, the manufacturer’s installation instructions
shall be followed. Where the requirements of referenced
standards or manufacturer’s installation instructions do not
conform to the minimum provisions of this code, the provisions
of this code shall apply.

The manufacturer's handling, care, use, and installation instructions will spell out what protections are necessary, and all plastic piping I have seen requires protection from sunlight during shipping, handling, storage and installation with limited exposure to sunlight while under construction. I am not aware what black ABS pipe calls for as I have seldom seen it installed - I point this out because there may be sufficient carbon black in the black ABS pipe to allow exposure to sunlight, but maybe not.

Jerry thanks for the quick response. I have always known that they needed protection and have always been told that, just couldn't remember exactly where it was stated.
