View Full Version : CHIMNEY STACK ON ROOF

inspected this home in colorado today and wood burning chimney was on north roof. it was two feet above north roof,but south roof was quite abit higher and there were bedroom windows thaT opened toward that chimney. is this correct or should it be also above south roof.hots attached

Looks fine to me according to the schematic.

It's a foot too short at the very least. All chimneys must be at least 3 ft above the roof regardless.

If the nearby taller roof is more than 10 ft. away, then it would not have to be taller according to the code. It may need to be taller if there is an adverse wind effect or they need the additional height to overcome house stack effect. Keep in mind that this additional chimney is exposed and thus will cool down quickly so you don't want to over do it and make it too tall. You reach the point of diminishing return rather quickly.
