hey all

looking to purchase a reliable co detector, can you all tell me what you use and what you think of it. after seven years of putting in my report "recommend installing co detectors", come july of this year after eight deaths related to co, our fast moving government is making it law now ,on all new sales. i always left that to the hvac guy, but thought i should have one, hey for my own safety.

thanks

This is a tough question to answer. I would say buy a combo smoke CO alarm from the big box stores. Make sure it will beep once its life is over. 5-7 years

The nice ones measure CO over time and you can see what it was. vs just a preset alarm. Good for finding issues

I use a TIF 8500A carbon monoxide analyzer and have been pleased with it.

I use the TSI “Q-Trak” and I have been very happy with it.

By the way … how come there were no doughnuts for my methlab presentation?

Fruit?! Who ordered fruit?! Good lord, Charlie, next time you invite a cop to give a presentation … bring doughnuts.

Cheers!

You want an analyzer that has a pump feature to draw the gases in. Other than that, most of the full function analyzers are fine.

Stay away from off the shelf UL listed CO alarms. They are very unreliable and don't protect the low end. You want either a NSI 3000 or CO Experts low level CO monitor.
