Suddenly, I'm seeing a lot of these at inspections in Chicago in the North Shore suburbs.
This morning was a great opportunity to watch them action as actually installed by typical homeowners....

What a convenient place for an electrical outlet to be located.
I guess it could be used to kill the mosquitoes in the barrel.

FYI, in some western states it is actually illegal to collect rain water.

That installation is really not too surprising when you figure those rain barrells sell for $169 -$350 around here.
The person who would pay that much for a 30 gallon trach can is likely to be the same person who thinks it's working just fine.
