James Hardie has issued a new series of "Best Practices" guides customized for various areas of the country.

James Hardie: Best Practices (http://www.jameshardie.com/homeowner/bestPractices.shtml)

Unfortunately, the Hardie site provides no way to download a guide in its entirety, only links to sections.

I have reassembled the guide for the northern section of the country, here's a link: James Hardie "Best Practices Guide" instalation practices for the Chicago area (Northern Section of the US) as a single document for home inspectors (http://paragoninspects.com/pdf/exterior/siding/fiber-cement/hardi-north.pdf).

Be aware that this is a 34Mb download.

Thanks for the update, Michael.
The good news is that James Hardie Corp. adjusts their Best Practices guide based on failures and other poorly-installed-product anecdotes from the field. So all those cobbled-together installs we see and other anomalies result in these changes.

The install guides from several years ago have changed quite a bit, even though the product hasn't changed at all.

Dom.

Michael,

Thank you for letting us know of the updates.

While there is no "full master download" for each section of the country, they have actually made it easier than it was before by grouping the installation instructions (Best Practices) under the area of the country instead of under each product and then each area of the country.

I.e., instead of going to Hardieplank and then South, and then to Hardiepanel and then South, then Hardieshingle and then south, all are grouped under "South".

Really makes it easier to locate the product for your area.
