I did an inspection the other day where the shingles at one area was cut too short.

I recommended repairs.

The seller had a contractor come out and look at it, and he said he didn't see where it would be a problem.

My reply was that water could damage the roof sheathing since the drip edge couldn't do its job.

What repairs are feasible at this point?

Replacing the short shingles, sealing the cut edge?

Thanks,

Wes

Ran the razor knife right along the edge huh? Nice. Not much you can do at this point. The guy knows it's BS/ Tarring the edges down would prevent water getting under the edge and that's all you want in an imperfect world. Also if ice guard is installed there is no way it can leak. Ice guard is the save all for bad roofers.
You did your job well. he did his poorly
tommorrow is another roof.

I'd ask the contractor, "If those shingles are not too short, why did you leave the rest of them too long?" :)

So now the seller wants to know what his options are for repairing it.

Give some money to the buyer and make it go away.

The roofer screwed up. It would take a lot to correct it properly. At this point, give up some green stuff and just say 'Sorry 'bout dat.' and add 'I wasn't aware my roofer screwed up.'

Sorry, but I do not see the problem here. You identified an issue in need of repair and thusly noted it. What the contractor and the seller do is none of your concern. Your are not obliged to do anything else.

As for JP's idea that you should dole out money - yeah sure. Send it my way.

No, not saying that HE should give the buyer money, saying that the SELLER should.

Maybe I did not word it properly in my other post.

The SELLER should just give the buyer some money to make that go away.
