I know I've not been around the block as some of you (that's a compliment) :)

These items were installed in the bottom of the cabinet; they were wired in. "Motorola" was imprinted on the side.

I'd appreciate any help.

I think they are surge protectors.

Yes, surge protectors and they should be mounted through the exterior of the cabinet, *not* "in" the cabinet as you see them.

Also see a lot of multiple tapped neutrals. :)

You DID pick up on the fact this is a FPE panel, right?;)

Yep, gave them my standard FP line and recommended a new panel...hopefully taking care of the doubled-neutrals and the surge-protectors mounted in the cabinet :)

Thanks for all of the help. I appreciate you guys.

Good to see that dirty old US FPE panel is surge protected. :)
The neutral bus appears to be bonded to a ground on the right with several white wires.
Amateur workmanship?

I dont know guys,,,is that the buss they are connected to or the mounting screws to the back plate? In all my years I dont think I have seen one quite like this. I give JB an A+ for uniqueness! :D

Looks like the bus bar connections where the breaker mounts are bolted to the bus bars.

Well...now that I have cleaned my bifocals I think JP is right again! ;)
