The crack in the picture is next to a doorway leading to the house from the porch. The crack travels next to the lindal and down the trim of the door but does not travel into the foundation. Is this a major concern because of the width of the crack in the mortar? House is 50 plus years old.

It could mean the lintel has moved, bowed down, or that the door has been hit/jarred sufficient enough to crack the mortar.

From that limited photo area is it hard to tell how significant it is. Was the lintel rusting? Bowing? Dropping along its front edge?

Jerry, the lindel was not bowed, was painted and the crack went under it to the door frame. I thought maybe because the placement of the header bricks that they might have had an effect since the crack originated next to the last one. Inside the house there were some ceiling cracks but not one coming from this area. Probably just a settlement crack but it was over a 1/4" wide.
