Found this today. It appears to be expanding foam used to seal the chimney. It was painted to match the wall. I called it out as improper material. Does anyone know if any of this stuff is high temperature suitable? I know the orange stuff can be used in garages to seal firewalls, but this was yellow foam. Also noted that the water heater is not venting above the furnace vent.

If that is Type B gas vent, which it should be, the insulation needs to be kept back 1" minimum ... regardless of any temperature rating of the foam insulation.
