Not a big item, but one of the odder things I've encountered lately: stain had a "waxy" feel, but no odor - no way to ask owners as it's a foreclosure.
Any guesses?

Love that's gonna break me in two
Don't hang me up in your doorway
Don't hang me up like you do yea
Come on come on come on and do it
Come on and do what you do woooo..."

There are folks who have religous shrines in their closets were incense and candles are burned. Then you have others who have shrines to people like Marylyn Monroe, Elvis, and Reagan.

It is definitely some type of moisture in the wall cavity running down on top of the door frame which is metal. I am sure the rust is coming from the inside of the frame which could be unfinished (meaning probably not painted). End result rusty water running out on to the frame

Mr. Dawson,
I'd have to disagree with your comment. If that was water leakage, don't you think that door below would have some moisture or the same staining evidence on it. I don't see any. Do you?

"Waxy feel"
I vote residue from candles/insense burned in closet set up as shrine.

I keep thinking where the guy (or woman) stuck their cigar (the guy) or cigarette (either of them) while doing other things.
It seems to location specific to be something set up in the closet, one would expect the entire header to be like that all the way across.
Or maybe that is where they stuck the incense holder, each time at that same location?

It's definitely not rust, there was no evidence of water damage at the wall above and the floor above is a condo unit with an identical layout and no water source at that end. I reported it as cause unknown, but I think the "shrine" explanation is a likely bet.

Also, the source of that is from below, not from above. You can tell by the pattern of the stain.
