This morning, I was on the way to the job. 70 mph, BLAM! instant blowout, left rear tire. The truck stayed true and I cut from the center lane to the shoulder in a pretty short distance.
As usual, rush hour continued and no one would stay clear of the first lane, so I quickly realized I would not be changing the tire there. Figured I'd use the emergency road side policy I've had for umten years and never used. Called the tow company.
They showed up 30 minutes earlier than I had been told. No sooner had we arrived at the tire company and he had dropped the truck, then all hell broke loose. 60 mph winds, drining rain, and me bone dry. If those A-holes had moved over, I would have still been on the road changing that flat.
To top it off, I'm in the hall of fame at the Tire store. It's the largest thing they've ever removed from inside a tire. Prior to today, the top item was a spark plug, followed by a 5/8ths socket.
I hadn't bought the roadside hazard warranty. they gave it to me anyway. Three hours late, I was on the job.

Thom,
Glad the truck and you survived.

But this TOPS your ordeal.

This takes some time to load but well worth it.

Look out for wings on your road.

They covered the tire. The piers are theirs to place on the bulletin board.

That just wouldn't have happened in our area.

My dad would have already picked up any tool laying on the road. As a kid, he would have me run across the busy highway just to pick up a screwdriver or a wrench he had seen.

"Look at that son, there a good tool just laying in the road" he would say.

Maybe he was trying to get rid of me in that traffic. ;)

Well guess who gets to pick out his nursing home now? :)
