Ok this is from Heny the 5th's castle. 800 amp service, with 10 panels. All but two were in great condition. Several wires in the panel are capped, although they appeared to be live. Futhermore, does the penetraion in pic 1 require a clamp? Missing bushings and multiple cables through penetration noted.

That is a conduit fitting in pic #1, not a cable. No clamps required on the conductors.

Those are not missing bushing. Bushing protect the conductors. Those would be missing clamps. Clamps would properly secure the cables to the enclosure. Most clamps for the 12-x and 14-x cable sizes are rated for use with 2 or less cables, but the package would need to be checked to confirm.

The grounding wires into the lug is also incorrect. Lugs like that are for 1 conductor.

That conduit in picture 1 - If those conductors are larger then # 4 awg then a bushing is required, if smaller then # 4 no bushing required

In pic 5 I could not figure out why the capped wires were live. Any thoughts.

I assume you traced each of the conductors out, are you sure one of them is not terminated on a breaker?
If not it would seem that someone is using the panel as a raceway?

I did trace each wire and the race way is the only explanation I can come up with because the wires were def. live.

In pic 5 I could not figure out why the capped wires were live. Any thoughts.

Possibly to a pool light switch in the house, and back to the panel, then out to the pool light transformer, or something similar.

ah yes that makes sense. There was pool lighting all over the place.

What I notice in picture five, was two splices.

I believe if you trace the two black wires back, you find then connected to a double pole circuit breaker? Well that just a guess on my part.:)
