I never thought that there were so many terms used in reference to garage doors.

That's why I choose words like damaged/rusted hardware, loose fittings, rusted components and improperly installed doohinkies.

Great post!

I am constanty trying to find terms for the thing that supports the opener which is missing a bolt. Or the thing in the middle of, and connected to, the garage door that is missing a bolt etc.

On second tought, after reading some of it, I think it would take forever to find what you are trying to describe. Perhaps referring to components as "hardware" and including a photo is a good way after all.
