This was attached to the outside of water heater near bottom of tank. Any guesses?:D

Just a guess, match holder, to light the pilot.

how about gadget to remove that hotter then hot burner chamber hatch door--man can they be hot

I thought match holder and there was a dark spot on crook of piece. Could be but have never seen this.

It is actually a hook you stick thru your lip before you blow the pilot out and try to gas yourself or blow yourself up so you cannot pull away.

Either that or a match holder to light the pilot :p

help us tom. what was the pilot ignition instructions, did it require match or was it ignitor, did you read instructions, it could be an old roach clip. woops dating myself

It was not the electronic start pilot, matches or BBQ lighter. I kept my clip on my keychain.

No slide. Wouldn't be a roach clip.

It is a match holder to get the match far enough into the chamber to reach the pilot.
Used em a few times.

Went to The Big Box Store and asked " The Expert " on Duty Saturday Morning .

Ask for a Drip Leg ( which is missing ) and " The Big Box Expert sold him that gadget. :D
