These photos are taken from the attic of an 90-year old house. The attic insulation looks like cotton, and some fibers look like fiberglass. Is it Rockwool?

Looks like old dirty blown-in fiberglass insulation. Any K&T under it by chance??

SP, Thank you. Yes there are knob & tube wiring under it (see photos).

For what it's worth, it looks mighty like rockwool to me. Not that there's a great difference.

Is this blown insulation considered a certain type of R Rating due to its color? There is a measuring tape in the background for the installers but the insulation is not evenly distributed. Can this be considered an R30 or R38 type insulation?

No
Unknown

The depth of insulation and type yields the r-value.
The color has nothing to do with r-value, only identification by brand.

There should be an insulation fact sheet attached to the house at the attic opening which should list the brand, depth, r-value, etc.

Good eyes, Brent. I think there are the rodent tracks on it.
