Is multi-strand aluminum wire allowed in new residential construction?

What size wire and what is the application? The answer is most likely yes but a few details helps.

220 volt circuits. No particular size.

As long as it is properly sized and installed multi-strand aluminum wiring is perfectly fine. It is the solid conductor aluminum wiring that is a concern.
