Gas pipe over flue vent - gas pack

Have a look at this picture and let me know what you think. My HVAC contractor friend says there's nothing in the code or instructions that say not to do this.

I wouldn't be worried about the gas line above the vent ... but of the gas regulator that close in front of the vent! :eek:

Also, that 90 degree fitting on the flexible conduit is not suitable for use outdoors.

Good spotting, Jerry, I missed the elbow. And a different HVAC contractor told me that the gas regulator needs to be a minimum of three feet from an ignition source. So you got that one too.

Don't forget the conduit which is connected to that 90 degree connector - I was subtly pointing that out too. :)

348.10 Uses Permitted.
FMC shall be permitted to be used in exposed and concealed locations.

348.12 Uses Not Permitted.
FMC shall not be used in the following:
(1) In wet locations
(2) In hoistways, other than as permitted in 620.21(A)(1)
(3) In storage battery rooms
(4) In any hazardous (classified) location except as permitted by other articles in this Code
(5) Where exposed to materials having a deteriorating effect on the installed conductors, such as oil or gasoline
(6) Underground or embedded in poured concrete or aggregate
(7) Where subject to physical damage

I would be willing to bet that the MC conduit is only protecting a shielded low voltage control wire.
