I read that the problems originally associated with imported drywall has now been expanded to domestic as well. Other than checking for any suspicious corrosion on the copper and brass fixtures in the house, has anyone heard of a reliable test, or come up with a decent referral for clients? Even if the house showed no suspicious corrosion, if it was built or remodeled after 2003, it could still contain some defective drywall. I live in the Southwest. Evidently, due to the low humidity, symptoms could manifest years down the road. What kind of CYA statements have you guys come up with?

Check out past threads here and the Florida dept. of health website.

Beware, there are all sorts of snake oil salesmen coming out of the wood work on the internet!

If you are in a licensed state, most likely the state law/rules cover you already. It is a latent defect, and is also considered an environmental problem. Just about every state law protects home inspectors against this.

I have not changed a thing in my agreement, it pretty much covered items I have no control over, I can't see or is a latent defect.

Thanks, I'll read the old threads. I was curious about the CYA angle because It was recently added to the Buyers inspection notice paperwork for Realtors in my state (Arizona). I'll check with my cert board.
