Copper pipe hangers

I'm second guessing myself yet again.
You can't use these hangers on copper right? This is a new installation.
They should be those wire type with the vinyl or rubber sleeve for protection correct?

SECTION P2605
SUPPORT
P2605.1 General. Piping shall be supported in accordance
with the following:
1. Piping shall be supported to ensure alignment and prevent
sagging, and allow movement associated with the
expansion and contraction of the piping system.
2. Piping in the ground shall be laid on a firm bed for its
entire length, exceptwhere support is otherwise provided.
3. Hangers and anchors shall be of sufficient strength to
maintain their proportional share of the weight of pipe
and contents and of sufficient width to prevent distortion
to the pipe. Hangers and strapping shall be of approved
material that will not promote galvanic action. Rigid support
sway bracing shall be provided at changes in direction
greater than 45 degrees (0.79 rad) for pipe sizes 4
inches (102 mm) and larger.
4. Piping shall be supported at distances not to exceed those
indicated in Table P2605.1.

You can't use these hangers on copper right?

The don't need rubber sleeves or anything like that, but that is not allowed for several reasons, first, those are not copper (at least those straps do not look like they are copper) and will create corrosion from dissimilar metal contact, and, secondly even if they were copper they would not be allowed to be installed and used as shown.

I have seen this done before ... however never so sloppy and at the risk of sounding stupid here goes................

The strapping material in question is of such a type that it will promote galvanic corrosion.

As such it somehow need to be insulated as such to meet the code requirement. I have seen this done by wrapping vinyl or electrical tape around the pipe or strapping to isolate the two materials.

In my opinion... too much work for nothing... proper clamps are probably, faster, cheaper and easier at the end of the job.

Adas long as the two materials are properly insolated and that the support is adequate I would not find fault with it.

They do make copper plated pipe strapping. I keep a roll on my truck. Still, proper rigid split ring clamps or brackets preferred.

Looks like another quality plumbing job by a tinknocker,,notice the black iron reducing coupling on the high vent?

Too funny, yeah this system was installed about 4 days before the inspection and it had 2 large leaks and 1 minor leak.. Nice work!!
