Looks like California is try to do away with the yellow pages/phone book...

This should be a big help to the INTERNET web-sties for home inspector.

Is your state doing any thing like this?

I could see Google/Yahoo/Bing In the back rooms on this one.

Ron, any idea what the rationale is for wanting to disband the California yellow book? Is it about money and production costs to print and distribute the books? Does nobody use them? Number of companies paying for ads dropped off? Do they want to keep a yellow book directory but just publish it all on-line instead of in hardcopy format?

I still look in the phone book and yellow pages for some services around here.

Your list is part of it. A lot of people just dump them in the trash... I never use the thing. Its an old dieing dog...

The cost of an ad. card size about $4K a year I have 8 web-sites for less then $500 a year.

Don't tell me that the government now owns the Yellow Pages too. I thought that the Yellow Pages and other directories were a private business. No?

Being a private business has not stopped government regulation yet!

I can visualize the greenies as the instigators or at least the pawns in this endeavor.

I am not particularly green nor PC but I regularly shake my head at the waste when I collect the 8-10 various directories from my front door and drop them in the trash every year.
I use on-line directories exclusively as do most in our area, so little would be lost except sales and printing jobs at the directory companies, imho.

I used the phone book yesterday for the first time in I don't know how long.

Yes the Gov wants to control all. Its not actually the Gov but folks that think their rational should be imposed on everyone else. They sit there and talk to each other about how they need to look out for everyone and with out them everyone would be lost souls.

Look at our wonder President.

Well spoken, clean cut individual that believes or should I say believed, that his popularity allowed him to do anything he wants or wanted to do and the rest of us should just wake up and go along with what ever he says because we are holding up progress.

Last I heard, (and I don't know who publishes CA) the Donnelly Company entered bankruptcy. They print the Dex yellow pages here in AZ.
