Someone sent me these photos. This was connected to the hot and cold water lines under a kitchen sink. Any ideas?

Maybe a shunt for a recirc pump?

Do recirc pumps get put on the cold side?

I was thinking inline flow/pressure reducer as part of a filtration system.

It appears to be some kind of pump or something like that...
