Staining on surfaces

Had a house yesterday that had a bunch of various shaped oval staining on window trim, wood surfaces, and wood trim at walls and openings. Moisture meter did not pick up any abnormal readings above the lowest parameters in the green. Anyone ever seen this or have some thoughts. Thank you for your comments in advance.

DB: Agreed. Shellac is cheap.

I concur, knots in the wood with only a single coat of paint.

Either way, the information and answer to the question is the same: knots in the wood due to not having been primed (I hesitate to add "properly" as they "may not have been primed" at all).

Thanks, but I wasn't questioning the answers, nor did I have any sinister motive for the question. Sometimes HO's come here and ask questions and the answers we give should be tailored to their skill level.

That makes sense to me as well, but the nature of the question prompted me to ask.... you never know sometimes.

DA: As these are not actual paying customers, it is my belief they should come to a professional home inspectors forum with the expectation that the discussion is on that level, and not theirs. Should they have the sense to identify themselves as mere home owners, they might then expect to be treated accordingly - maybe.:D

Keep in mind that some home owners know more than some home inspectors, and that home inspectors/builders/contractors/code inspectors/architect/engineers/etc are also "home owners". :p

Until a lack of knowledge is displayed, all should be treated the same - as being able to understand what is discussed here.

I concur. I believe it is incumbent upon the reader of ANY professional board to be able to understand what is being disseminated there. However, ALL skill levels may be represented by HI's on this board as well.
