I've done a search but have not been able to find more information on this. If a Main or Equipment Distribution panel is located in a laundry room is there a minimum distance it must be from the washer valve box or a sink?

I think you will find that the standard working space that has been discussed on another thread in great detail will be the only thing that will apply. Nothing special about a laundry room that I am aware of.

I don't think there is a minimum distance that has to be made. I would however put the panel in a place where you can reach it though. This will make it much easier to get to and it would be out of the way of the laundry equipment.

All electrical panels require a working clearance of 30" wide and 36" deep.

Or the width of the equipment, whichever is wider.

I would have hoped that this should have been covered in one of the training classes.

What I think he is asking about is not the working space per se, but 'how close' is the panel allowed to be to the clothes washer and water ... in which case the working space answer is correct if applied correctly:
The EDGE of the working space, i.e., the EDGE of the panel enclosure may be aligned with the edge of the clothes washer, dryer, laundry sink, etc.

The best way to think of the basic working space area is to think of it as a large cardboard box which is 30" wide by 36" deep in front of the panel ... can you place that box on the floor in front of the panel and stand in it with nothing encroaching into the area above the sides of the box? If not, then something is in the working space which should not be there
