I am looking for specific info on wether there are specific guidlines or installtions practices on precast concrete steps, or "floating steps" when thery are installed to an entry door to a home. More specifically, what is the minimum allowable gap between the home and the floating steps. Specific code reference would also be greatly appreciated

The only thing I can find pertaining to this is tread width requirements. The gap between the house and the steps could affect the tread width. Here is the code reference.

1009.3.2 Dimensional uniformity. Stair treads and risers
shall be of uniform size and shape. The tolerance between
the largest and smallest riser height or between the largest
and smallest tread depth shall not exceed 0.375 inch (9.5
mm) in any flight of stairs. The greatest winder tread depth
at the 12-inch (305 mm) walk line within any flight of stairs
shall not exceed the smallest by more than 0.375 inch (9.5
mm) measured at a right angle to the tread's leading edge.
