Well it is unconventional and unconventional things tend to work in unconventional ways! Now saying that if it was working and I did not see any other issues with the 50+ or however old cast iron pipe I would not say much about it. Whenever I find older cast iron pipe I always note that it is old and subject to failure.

P3003.2 Prohibited joints. Running threads and bands shall
not be used in the drainage system. Drainage and vent piping
shall not be drilled, tapped, burned or welded.
The following types of joints and connections shall be prohibited:
1. Cement or concrete.
2. Mastic or hot-pour bituminous joints.
3. Joints made with fittings not approved for the specific
installation.
4. Joints between different diameter pipes made with
elastomeric rolling O-rings.
5. Solvent-cement joints between different types of plastic
pipe.
6. Saddle-type fittings.

Thanks guys, back in the saddle again huh. Good info and as i suspected.
I thought i heard some whinneying from the broker as I was taking the picture. MAbey that was meant to be spelled whining:D
