When I saw this chimney, I thought I'd dozed off and woken up in Philly. :)
I think I win the white powder contest with this one! The buyers will get a new liner, new pipes and a chimney cap, but I don't expect that will fix the corrosion problem.
This install was about 15 yrs old, in a 1940's uninsulated crawlspace. I recommended insulating the perimeter walls and closing off all but one or two of the crawlspace vents. There were 5 or 6 vents in the perimeter walls. The floor has been covered with poly, and they've run poly up the foundation walls to the sills. Any ideas? Should the furnace be moved so the vent connector is shorter?
