Inspection News. com is a wealth of information for the beginning inspector as well as the seasoned inspector.
It is also a useful source of information for home buyers as well as real estate professionals.
The discussions are usually civil and on point pertaining to the issue at hand. The majority of the posters will bend over backwards to help anyone who asks.
This is by far the most informative website on the net for those in the inspection business, those thinking about getting into the inspection business, and for those who may be purchasing a home.

InspectionNews.com is an invaluable resource for any home inspector. The only time I'm disappointed with it is those few times I log on and nothing new has been posted.

Inspectionnews.com has given me the opportunity to meet people from around the country, talk to them in person and gain insight from the best in the business. It is a wealth of information from every angle.
If you have a question or issue, someone here has already dealt with it and they are willing to share their knowledge and experience. You will gain insight, no matter what the issue.
I find to be an excellent experience every time I log in.

I wish I had found this web site before I spent th three grand I payed to ITA. Their training was great but I honestly have learned tons more just from reading the posts here. I make it a point to log on every day and read every post.
I will admit it gets a little addictive but I have learned so much.
Thank you Brain.

Inspectionnews.com is absolutely the best place to learn, help teach, and exchange thoughts and ideas with other professionals.
None of us are too old to learn from each other, and none of us are too new to teach another something new.
Addictive? Of course not!

In addition to all the other benefits Inspectionnews.com's message board has a searchable archive for specific questions or answers that contain a LOT of good advice that will probably never be repeated.

Inspection news is a greatest learning tool in this industry that I've found.
We home inspectors are sometimes isolated from our peers. Unlike regular jobs where you actually have co-workers.
This site is a place to vent, ask questions, learn, laugh and share. I don't know what I would do without it.

Until InspectionNews came along, the relationship with my wife was void. We had little in common. Now we chat endlessly about girders, joists and rafters. Just the other day, we were holding hands while walking along the beach and debating the true value of tankless water heaters.
Thank you Brian. You complete me.

As a long-time home inspector, I have not found another (free) resource that is as beneficial or educational as Inspection News.
It provides positive feedback, constructive criticism, and a family atmosphere of learning and sharing amongst peers who have a common desire to grow their knowledge base.
This sharing of information in turn helps countless thousands of others (homebuyers for instance) who unknowingly benefit from the experiences gleaned by it's users.
KUDOS to Brian for his vision and commitment.

IN is the water cooler and break room in my office. Can always find some advice and always find an opinion. The HI business is a lonely business. The only local human contact is clients,Real Estate types, and competitors. This MB has saved my 64 year old a** a few times. I've adjusted my boiler plate because of this MB and I've adjusted my marketing. There are some very contentious, quality inspectors on this board.I'm happy we do not have to wade through political/religion discussions. This is good stuff!---keep it up!---thankx

Brian Hannigan's Inspection News.com is the most comprehensive inspection forum on the web today. I have viewed other forums over the years and found that Inspection News.com is the most informative and user friendly site on the net. Inspection News is a must for Home Inspectors, Realtors, and anyone in the home building market for fast, accurate answers to just about any home problem, and related questions. Inspection News forum consists of thousands of like minded and some not so like minded people that insure you that you will get answers quickly no matter how trivial. I have been a member of Inspection News for over five years and log on daily to get the latest news, insights, recalls, laws and inspection resources all provided free of charge by Bryan. Inspection News is a part of my home inspection company and I' am looking forward to many years in the future with Brian and the members of Inspection News.com. Tony Mount

Ask your doctor about Inspection News.com.
It treats athlete's foot, removes ugly rust stains, whitens you teeth, and filters out 99.9% of airborne bacteria.
Side effects include increased knowledge, disturbed sleep patterns and occasional irritability. Seek immediate medical attention if a session lasts more than four hours.

Inspection News.com is probably the best site of it's kind available. Not only is it a wealth of information, but the congregation is for the most part a group of individuals I am proud to call friends.
Of course there are a couple that fall into the category of "Oh yeah, I do know the name...".

I believe Inspection News is THE most read and THE most participated in forum by THE largest group of knowledge folks in the HI industry! It's also THE most fun! Post an inquiry and it is safe to say you will have a professional response and discussion in a few hours or less.
To anyone who asks about becoming a home inspector I say, number one, visit Cost of Business and do the exercise to see if it is feasible for you and then, number two, drop by Inspection News and do some reading! THEN come back and see me.

Inspectionnews is one of the most important tools a home inspector, new or seasoned, can have in there bag.
For the new inspector it's a place where no question asked is considered stupid and for the seasoned inspector it's a place to learn from teaching.
Without a doubt Inspectionnews is the best home inspector forum on the web.
And you don't even have to take a test to be a member!
Thanks Brian, for the great website, and thanks to all you fellow inspectors who have answered my "dumb" questions and given us aall a place to learn and become better at what we do.

The additional insights to various problems found, as well as the clarifications made by the members are very helpfull.
Any HI wanting to broaden his / her information base needs to be on this forum.

When I attended the Horry/Georgetown technical college to get my necessary CEUs for licensure, our instructor told us about Inspection News. He stated that the wealth of information on here would put what we learned in class to shame. He was right.
This, is continuing education.

IN's big advantage is that it's primarily a site for inspectors (and ultimately, their clients), not a venue to promote the agendas of one or another of the "Professional Associations" and the egos of their leadership - it's mostly about how to best do your job and serve you clients, not about the endless politics and backbiting that often dilute the "educational" aspects of the association boards.

It seems odd to write a thank you to a site whose sole purpose seems to remind me daily of just how much I don't know.
Part of my written business plan is to learn at least one new thing every day. IN is my usual starting point.

As I said before, this site IS NOT addictive.

Does that mean I am not even at the first step for recovery? :D

Let's see, last time it was:
- Registered: Feb 2003
- posted October 06, 2006 07:41 PM
- That's 3-1/2 years to get to that many posts.

Now it shows:
- Join Date: Mar 2007
- posted April 29, 2009
- That's 2 years to get close to the same number of posts as 3-1/2 years before.

I still say the same thing:

Inspectionnews.com is absolutely the best place to learn, help teach, and exchange thoughts and ideas with other professionals.

None of us are too old to learn from each other, and none of us are too new to teach another something new.

Addictive? Of course not!

I still stand by that, and I still say "Addictive? Of course not!" :D

Brian:

You should be ashamed the way you have taken all of these folks away from important activities like flossing their cats, jumping to conclusions and generally diddling away their time.

In return they get a chance to actually learn something about their profession from a cadre of knowledgeable professionals from many different disciplines related to the building industry.

The site has certainly been beneficial to me and I highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about learning the inspection profession.

In your defense, it is not anymore addictive than let's say, well, uh, Margaritas on a hot Texas day.:D

It was a little intimidating for me at first to post here because everyone seemed to know so much. Not only was I a rookie, I was new to a field that didn't require as much training as HIs have. And I'm a woman, the only one that posts regularly. Yet people here went out of their way to make me feel welcome. I was proud when I discovered that I had something to contribute myself, and that people here liked and appreciated me.

It's a really terrific bunch. A little rough around the edges sometimes, but altogether an awesome group of people.

Brian is the one who makes it happen. He has developed the premier forum for HIs on the internet. And he's a good guy.

Thanks everyone!
