Is it acceptable to use vinyl as a fascia? I have not seen it used before and when I came across some it was nailed in place and bowing.

I have never seen it done. I would have to question how it was secured to the house. Any pictures??

It is allowed to be used, but not allowed to be nailed.

Something the think about.

The house walls and soffits are finished with vinyl siding, which appears to be over the original finish of ___________. This type of siding limited the inspector’s access to all wall materials behind the vinyl siding and soffit areas.
These inaccessible areas may harbor excessive moisture condition, water damage or pest infestation or infection. Some damage, cracks, excessive moisture condition were noted to section of the siding and trim work extending into the interior walls.
Areas of the vinyl siding noted damage, voids open section.
Further inspection required.

Ron, I something very close to that, except where you say;
"Further inspection required.",
I say " additional inpection services are needed...".

You don't nail it but I have used it on new construction using proper J-channels, etc. I don't like vinyl for siding but as soffit and fascia it can make a good looking and durable product. I especially like it with perforated soffit.

What type of infection could be behind the siding?
