When the shingles are cracked like this, I have been calling for replacing the roof. Is that the general consensus?
There isn't much else you can really do right?

The roof is toast.... Not much more you can say about it.

The way those cracks are running is strange. A shingle defect would be haphazard. Those cracks seem to follow a pattern. The roof is toast, yes, but it appears something else is going on.

I agree, I would be looking really hard at the structural movement, decking, nailing of the shingles, etc.
Like Philip said, something else is going on.

Looks like text book thermal tearing (splitting) and it's a manufacturer's defect. I would call for replacement.

You can google and get more info.

Oh you are killing me. I was looking in my head for wind storms whiplashing the shingles
