How are the satilight co.'s allowed to ground to gas pipes

I know bonding in my state is allowed and nessassary but not used as a direct ground.

Allowed because no one smart enough to know bonding from grounding has caught them. Does anyone ever pull a permit and get an inspection on a dish?
They should be connecting to the directly grounding electrode conductor but you will see all manner of incorrect connections.
Maybe the mandated connections in the newer code version will get this on the right track eventually.
