Caught an older episode of Mythbusters last night and found it pretty interesting, they took water heaters and sealed off all the valves and safety checks added water turn on the unit to show what could happen worse case senario, i was amazed at just how explosive they where they took off like rockets going over 350mph and 500 ft in the air, then they mocked up a 2 story home and the tank blew completely through the whole thing. Kinda gave me a whole new appreciation on pressure valves.Check it out if you haven't seen it.

I don't remember the number but 1 gallon of water is equal to several thousand (40?) gallons of steam. If the W.H. simply blows a hole through the roof consider yourself lucky. These explosions are easily capable of far worse destruction.
