I was not able to locate any tech info on this.

Does the pitch of the air intake PVC from the exterior to the furnace matter? I was thinking no but a client asked the question and I couldn't say for sure.

Pitch does not matter at the air intake however it does need to be the typical 1/4" per foot at the exhaust .

Air intake opening does however need to be parallel with the ground and 12 inches above snow line when terminating outside.

"Insure the combustion air inlet pipe (for a 2
pipe installation) has a 90 degree termination
elbow as shown in Figures 21 and 22.
Figure 21. Alternate Horizontal
Vent Installation
Note: A combustion air intake must be provided
with an elbow opening downward. The screen
provided with the furnace must be installed in the
elbow to prevent entry of debris or creatures."

Bob - Not questioning the content of the above quote. Just wondering who/what it is from.

It is from a general venting guide put out by ......
NORDYNE condensing furnaces.

You will however find others to be Similar.

Also from the PDF......

Furnace installation using methods
other than those described in the following
sections must comply with the
National Fuel Gas Code and all applicable
local codes to provide suffi cient
combustion air for the furnace.
