My understanding is that FPE made good fuse panels.

I believe you are looking at one of the last panels that FPE made. I see a very few of those around here. I have not heard that there were any good FPE panels/breakers.

It is the red "Stab-Loc" breakers that are the hazard, not the panel alone. In these parts, Home Inspectors and electricians recommend replacing them. Even the realtors know about the problem.
