Doesnt the material below the hearth, above the extension be non combust as well?
Clerarance to FB face is 6" or 3.5? Also, I thought that no material was to make contact with the steel frame of the FB unit.
FYI, I'm pretty sure this stuff was particle board

Its a factory built unit. Currently its set up for gas logs. I suppose it can burn solid fuel. I found out today that the seller told my buyer that he made the mantel / legs out of press board. I have some clearances but just looking to confirm.
