I'm going with "cores".

I don't actually know anything, I just came up with this by doing a web search.

"CORE. A hollow space within a concrete masonry unit formed by the face shells and webs. The holes in clay units. Also called a cell."

cores for hole and 'frog' for a depression in one face meant to key each brick in.
