I am in the process of starting starting a home inspection business in Arizona. The question I have is there inspection software that covers all of the Arizona Standards Of Practice (Same as ASHI) out of the box? In Arizona you have to cover all the SOP or you can get written up.

Hi Joseph.. Over the past 6 plus years I've reviewed about every type of reporting system out there. There may be one that does, but I do know very few new inspectors address everthing required when they summit their reports for review.
I would suggest getting trail reports from some of the venders and cross reference the program with the AZ check list.
If you do find one that does you will soon figure out that there is not a reporting system out there that will have everything you will be reporting. Be prepared to spend 100s of hours adding to your narriatives , now and every year your in business.

What part of AZ are you from?

Thanks for the info. I think I will go with Home Inspector pro and build my own template. I am moving to the Avondale area.

With the execption of some sample reports I haven't seen any of Doms reports yet. The sample reports that I viewed on line did not meet the AZ SOP in full..
From what i understand it is a good and easy to use reporting system..

Suggestion: To get the most out of your field training, when you do your 30 parallel inspections insist that the inspectors your are paying go over all of the 30 reports in detail with you to confirm your reports meets the SOP.

If you dont mind me asking. What program do you use Dan? And what did you have to do to the software to get it to conform to the SOP?

I use 3D.. I found the easiest way to get your reports to the AZ SOP is download the check list and go line for line to make sure all 80 items are on your report.
I tweek my narriatives almost everytime the BTR posts a list of things that inspectors missed when a complaint was filed against them.

AZ adopted an older version of the ASHI standards. I suppect the companies that advertize the reports are to ASHI standards are to the current standards.

We have many guys in Arizona and quite a few ASHI guys as well. If you want to contact some of them Joseph, let me know or ask on our message boards. As Dan mentioned you can add/remove whatever you want from the template (we have users in 17 countries and 6 languages now, which shows you flexibility). The default template definitely covers the SOP as I've seen a ton of reports submitted to ASHI and AZ for licensing and all were approved (though I guess its possible all the reviewers missed something, if so it would take seconds to add).

Home (http://www.calif3d.com) has ASHI SOP forms sets for 3D Inspection Software, The best and easiest to use. They (calif3D) can also tweak the forms so you do not miss reporting any specific SOP items.
