Maybe it was a quick read but what I saw was the offer to fix the home was refused. The offer to buy back the home was refused. So.....why does the builder have to pay 7,000,000.00

That is no where near a 7 mi8llion dollar loss.

I guess I have to read the whole story.

So where did the building inspector fall into all of this. Wasn't there a footing inspection?

The part about piecing the corporate veil was interesting.

Thank god a Home Inspector didn't do a pre purchase inspection on this property or they would be responsible to cover the $7,000,000.00 loss. Steve Balshin Majestic Home Inspection Service

Would you have seen that the footings were not the thickness required by the design engineer?

New Jersey Building Inspector??? Please I grew up in NJ and everything - everything can be bought for a price.

The reason the owner didn't take the builders offer is that he had lost credibility and the promise of a fix was most likely a delaying tactic. The second reason is most likely they saw how "fixes" had been done previously - 6 guys recruited at the Home Depot will be reinforcing the foundation. This builder sounds like he was working the shell game pretty well but the judge had enough information to pierce the LLC veil.
