Unfortunately, It's never been about "protecting the public", It's all about raising revenue and justifying existence.

NC licensing board has no authority over unlicensed inspectors, only licensed inspectors. It is a misdemeanor to practice without a license. Boards attorney has said the state has bigger fish to fry and the DA has no real interest in prosecuting anytime soon if ever.

Licensing Board Chairman joked that he should forfeit his license then he wouldn't have to maintain CEs or meet the reporting standards. The only recourse the board would have is to request the DA file a misdemeanor.

I'm not seeing that... I'm part of the public and I see my license being protected by the state licensing board. When they are notified of an unlicensed inspector they go after them. When a consumer files a complaint and the board investigates and finds that the inspector screwed up, they either fine and or require more education or the take the license away.

TN for the past few years did not really enforce the HI license law, they had a new director or administrator every few months! Now they have a good person in place and she is getting the work done, she is going on her second year in the position.

I know that some states do not do any enforcement of their license law and that is a shame.
