Saw this at an inspection today. It looks sort of like a termite but I'm not sure. The picture sucks but it is about 1/4 inch long.

Around here, termites a generally white. 3/16 to maybe a 1/4 inch.

Looks like an earwig, assuming that is just 1 bug in the photo.

It had a kind of forked tail but no tail pincers.

its hard to tell from the photo, but i would say its an earwig based on pinchers. It could be a swarmer termite without the alates (wings) these are usually black in color at least in my part of Texas. did you see any clear wings laying around? no. then: Did it have pinchers in the rear for sure? if so, then 100% its an earwig.

No, these are termites.
When they've been flying, they're brown but they don't have tails.

It had a kind of forked tail but no tail pincers.Male Earwigs have curved pincers, females have smaller, straight pincers that could be described as "a kind of forked tail."

Termites.have a Head and Body ( basically 2 parts.)

An Ant Has A Head , Round middle section and lower body ( three Parts. )
