Thought I'd share this.... the link below is to some newer ledger fasteners that I've been seeing more and more of lately. They should satisfy the code as for not being subject to withdrawal.
Once installed they don't look like much and can be missed or mistaken for a nail pretty easily. Their specs say each one has more shear strength than a 1/2" lag screw.
